Life Legacy
Courtney Alfonso Skeete was born in Orange Hill, St. James, on the island of Barbados on November 11, 1939. He was the first of thirteen children to the late Clarabelle Leotta Rochester and Fitzgerald Greaves.
Courtney grew up in Orange Hill St. James where he attended St. James Primary and Secondary Schools, later he started a career in auto mechanic's at Bovell auto shop in Rockdundo, St. James.
Courtney migrated to London England in 1960, and continued his education while he worked for London transport. Two months later he married Miriam Bovell. Courtney then moved on to the London Post Office, and realized he was not to happy there so he quickly left and in 1966 he and some friends started an agency by the name of BOFA (Barbados Overseas Friends Associates) where he worked for several years. In 1989 he made the decision to return to Barbados as he continued to be self-employed at the canteen in the Barbados Flour Mill.
In 1991 he met Annette and was so happy to see her after twenty years he followed her back to United States of America where they got married in November 1992. Courtney then worked for Strauss Auto Discount for several years before he retired. After many years of being in the cold climate he decided to migrate back to his native island Barbados.
Courtney leaves to mourn his dearly beloved wife Annette Skeete; four children Cynthia, Simon, Peter, and Alex; two stepdaughters Sandra Warner and Sandra London; two grandchildren Cameron and Kendra; five step grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; seven sisters Hazel, Pauline, Sheila, Phyllis, Kathlene, Wilma, Marlene and Sheila Weekes; three brothers Gray, Owen and Stephen; nephew Nigel Weekes; nieces Kathy Herbert and Sharon Husbands; beloved brother in law Powell Weekes and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, in laws and close friends to many to mention. He was preceded in death by his sister Elaine Rochester
Courtney leaves a legacy of love, dedication, concern and devotion for others. May he rest in peace.
