Biography
Keith Charles Bleasdell, also known as Tall Boy to friends was called to Heaven’s Gate at the age of 73. He was born on May 14th, 1939 to the loving parents of Charles Bleasdell and Agatha LaPompe (both deceased) of LaTante, Saint David, Grenada.
Growing up in Grenada, Keith loved to fish. He, his friends, and brother Heratio would dive in, shoot fish and hold lobster. He truly enjoyed his life in Grenada, but yearned to see the world.
Keith attended Crochu Roman Catholic School before migrating to Trinidad and Tobago. He worked for Trinidad Guardian Newspaper in the printery department where he perfected his craft. However, that wasn’t enough for Keith. In 1967, he migrated to the United States in hopes of achieving the American dream.
Shortly after his arrival in New York, Keith worked odd jobs until he found his way back to his craft. He worked at Balan Printing for many years and before retiring he worked in a printery in Long Island. Indeed, printery was his trade, but playing cards was his enjoyment. He loved hanging out in the basement with friends and winning them in cards. He would play cards till sunrise and using the phase, “My money will never done.”
Keith loved all five of his children dearly and would have done anything for them. After his separation with Balan Printing, he stayed home for several years awaiting his smaller children: Karen, Kelly, and Valerie’s arrival from school. He enjoyed cooking for them everyday or surprising them with pizza once in a while. As well, he loved pranking them. One night, while Colin was taking a shower he turned off the hot water on him. When coming out, he asked Colin, is everything okay and with a smile Colin said yes, because he knew what his father had done and the jokester he was.
Keith is survived by his wife Ernesta Bleasdell, children Karen, Kelly, Don, Valerie and Colin, grandchildren Jaren, Lynessa, Naes, CJ, Nashley, Tatianna, Trevon, and Tasha. Brothers: Martin, Preston, Ashton, Winston, Trevor, and Riensford and many others. Sisters: Claudette, Muriel and many more. Sisters-in-Law: Beulah and Janice. Cousins: Deneky, Yvonne, Tony, Jemma, Verna, Berna, Lucy, Everest, Mervin, Peter, Jean Taylor, the LaPompe’s, the Calder’s, and the Rockaway Boys. Keith’s life was indeed centered round family and friends. He has left very fond memories that will be cherished forever by his wife, family, and friends.
