Biography
John Egbert Alleyne and Theresa Sargeant Alleyne welcomed their son, Charles Alleyne, on November 20, 1927 in Eastbourne, St. Philip, Barbados.
Charles, or Charlie as his friends called him, immigrated to the United States in the early 1950s where he obtained a GED, and eventually became a citizen on March 30, 1965.
He met, and married, Mary Coleman in 1959. This union produced two sons, Wendell and Ezekiel, and Charlie helped Mary raise her daughter Valerie as his own. After Mary passed, Charlie met and married Asley Gooding in 1989. This union brought two sons, Peter and Philip, and one daughter, Maritza.
Charlie worked various jobs, such as a chef, and worked in a factory and warehouse before serving as an Orthopedic Technician at Kings County Hospital, which he retired from after 27 years of service.
Mr. Alleyne joined the Morning Star Lodge no. 2 on March 29, 1975. He served as a loyal member, and moved through the ranks to become Grand Master. As a member of St. Leonard's Church, Charlie participated as an usher for weekly services, made repairs, and helped clean the church.
Charlie, or "Happy" as his family called him, was known for his laughter, charm, and smile. He always worked to make everyone happy, and was loved by all.
On July 10, 2012, Charles was called home to join his parents John Egbert Alleyne and Theresa Sargeant Alleyne. He is proceeded in death by his three brothers and two sisters; wives, Mary Coleman Alleyne and Asley Gooding Alleyne. He leaves to rejoice his life, brother, Alonzo Alleyne; sons, Wendell Terry Alleyne, Ezekiel Alleyne, Peter Alleyne and Philip Alleyne; daughters, Maritza Alleyne and Valerie Wilson; daughter in-law, Shirley Brown Alleyne; grandchildren, Tarrin Wynter, Tarnisha Wynter, Joshua Wynter, Takara Alleyne, Jaedon Alleyne, Olivia Alleyne, Jayden Alleyne and Natalia Camille Alleyne; one great-grandson, Jamar, along with a hosts of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, lodge brothers and sisters, and many others.
