The sun rose on Renee Theresa Moses on August 27, 1960 to the late Joseph and Velma Moses in Brooklyn, New York. Growing up Renee developed a love for basketball. You could always find Renee playing on the basketball courts of P.S. 258 or Kingston Park in the Bedford Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn. When Renee graduated from Bay Ridge High School in 1978 she attended the City University of New York Queens College. On May 6, 1990 Renee gave birth to her only son Cory Duncan Boyce and from birth until her last breath Renee and Cory were a team.
Renee endured her struggles in life but in 1998 Renee gave her life to the Lord and that’s when her real life truly began. Renee was a faithful servant at the House of David Ministries Inc., where she served as the Head Usher of the Usher Ministry. Not only did she make sure the church was naturally clean and in order but she also made sure our spiritual vessels were pure by teaching the Word of God. As she spiritually progressed, she was licensed as a Minister and later on ordained as an Elder. Elder Renee not only ministered to those at the church but to everyone she came in contact with, whether it was on her job at the Human Resources Administration MICSA (Medical Insurance & Community Services Administration) where she worked as a Clerical Associate; or to those in her community of Brownsville, Brooklyn.
Elder Renee's passion to see souls saved, set free and delivered led her to start a home based ministry called “Purposed by God Ministry” alongside Pastor Vickas Francis. This ministry had no walls, from bible study in the living room of apartment 4C; evangelism in “the triangle” outside her building; to ministering at rehabilitation meetings and Odette’s Barbershop. Renee’s testimony of how she overcame the oppressions of life by accepting Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior led her to minister endlessly. Even up to her last moments on this earth, from her hospital bed Renee still carried the message of salvation and healing to those around her.
On July 17, 2013 while holding her son Cory's hand, Renee went home to be with her Heavenly Father. She leaves to cherish her memory her only son, Cory Boyce; granddaughter Heather La'Nae Boyce; brother Keith Moses; sister Theresa Moses; step sisters Cora and Carrie and adopted brother Edward. Also left to cherish Renee's memory is Renee's best friend for over thirty five years Ms. Francine Nolen.
In Renee's Ethical Will she wanted her family and friends to know that “Procrastination is a thief and doubt is a destroyer. Obedience to the heavenly Father brings about an awesome life which bears much fruit. The greatest thing I have done in life is submitting myself to God and receiving forgiveness of all my sins.” Renee believed that “The most important thing in life is accepting Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. Taking up your Cross and following Him. See yourself as God sees you and then you will be able to love others more fully.”
Renee wanted to be remembered as a person of integrity. And she will certainly be remembered as such and so much more; from her beautiful, welcoming to smile, to her audacious sense of humor and for the various ways she impacted each of our lives.
